Behind the scenes, each of his films questions humanity's way of embracing the earth, by placing man in relation to the space that surrounds him: from the Basque mountains to the Mexican desert, from the Atlantic Ocean to Iceland's volcanoes, to the space that separates us from Mars... Her films are part of a collaborative scientific approach. Whether it's around projects in the so-called exact sciences or in the social sciences. This hybrid approach, in which scientists' dreams and reality intertwine, tells the story of how science can open the door to other realities. Giulia Grossmann was recently awarded the CNC quality prize for her latest films, "Pasaia" and "La réponse de la Terre", and was a finalist for the SCAM experimental work prize. Her film "Proxima B" won the François Schneider Foundation's "Talent contemporain 2019" award. As the laureate of the French Institute's Mira programme in 2023, she is currently developing a film titled "La mémoire de la mangrove," set to be screened in Natal, Brazil. This project delves into the intricate relationship between humans and this fragile ecosystem, emphasizing its role as a space of resistance for fishermen, scientists, and indigenous peoples.
