Resiliency Expo

The 2020 Resiliency Expo will be held 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 6 on the fifth floor of the Shoemaker Center, Bldg. 36000. The expo will include information from various organizations on post, including the Education Center, ACS, DFMWR, WAQ, MFLC and others. Golf Scramble

The Courses of Clear Creek are hosting Garrison Commander’s Golf Scramble at 11 a.m. March 6. The event is open to all and a 4-person scramble. Cost is $40 per person with $5 optional mulligans. For more information, call 254-287-4130.

Car Seat Safety Inspection

Certified technicians will provide up-to-date information about car seat installations and hands-on education for your child’s safety March 6 at Sprocket Auto Crafts.

Information includes:

• Booster

Movie and Axe Throwing Trip

Join the Better Opportunities for Single Soldiers Program the first Saturday of the each month for one of the latest movies and axe throwing.

Any single or unaccompanied service member is eligible.

Fitness Expo

The Spring into Action Fitness Expo will be held from 10-11:30 a.m. March 7 at Applied Functional Fitness Center. Activities include: TRX workout, whole food plant-based eating, high intensity interval training, AFTB resources, financial fitness and health and fitness information. Also, check out the climbing wall, alpha warrior rig and wall beats workouts.

St. Patrick’s GlowTastic 5K

A St. Patrick’s GlowTastic 5K is set for 7:30 p.m. March 7 at Samuel Adams Brewhouse.

Cost is $20 for DoD members and $25 for non-DoD members through March 5. Otherwise, cost is $25 for DoD members and $30 for non-DoD members on site on race day.

March 12

Mountain Bike Dana Peak

A Mountain Bike trip at Dana Peak is scheduled for 6-7:30 p.m. March 12. Participants will meet at the Recreation Equipment Checkout Center and depart from there to Dana Peak in Harker Heights. Transportation will be provided, however riders can drive themselves if preferred. Mountain bikes and helmets will also be provided.

Once at Dana’s Peak instructors will fit riders with the correct size mountain bike and cover the basic fundamentals of riding. Then they will be free to ride around the trails or follow along with one of an instructor. The event is open to all and costs $25 per person. For information, call 254-317-5350.

Movie Extravaganza

A Movie Extravaganza for military families with special needs is set for 1:30-3 p.m. March 14 at Oveta Culp Hobby Soldier & Family Readiness Center. The event is open to military families with special needs. Bring your blanket, pillow or mat to relax and enjoy. Please let organizers know of individuals who require assistance or accommodation due to a disability.

March 19

Ciara in concert

In conjunction with the grand opening of the new USO on Fort Hood, Grammy award-winning artist Ciara will be performing a concert on March 19 at Fort Hood Stadium. The concert is open to all DoD ID card holders. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and the concert will begin at 6:30 p.m.

Post-wide town hall meeting

Fort Hood will conduct its next post-wide town hall meeting focused on on-post housing at 9 a.m., March 19, at the Community Events Center. III Corps and Fort Hood Deputy Commanding General Maj. Gen. Scott Efflandt will host the event, which will also be streamed live on the installation’s Facebook page at www.Facebook.com/forthood.

Fort Hood Family Housing area residents are encouraged to attend and participate.

Women’s History Month

With the theme “We Can Do It … and She Did,” Fort Hood observes Women’s History Month with an hourlong program at 11:30 a-m, March 19, in the Phantom Warrior Center. The event is hosted by the III Corps and 11th Tactical Signal Brigade’s Equal Opportunity offices and features guest speaker retired Command Sgt. Maj. Jackeline Fountain, the first female command sergeant major in the U.S. Army’s Chemical Corps and still serving today in the greater Fort Hood community as a member of the Harker Heights City Council.

March 20

Dallas Cowboys combine

Caliber Collision and the Dallas Cowboys invite you to register for the Military Combine Prelims on March 20 at AT&T Stadium. Test your skills in this NFL style combine with the same drills the pros run — like the 40-yard dash, vertical jump and broad jump. The top 50 participants will advance to the Heroes Day Military Combine on April 4. There, on the field at AT&T Stadium, they’ll compete for glory and a chance to announce a Dallas Cowboys draft pick. Open to all members of the U.S. Armed Forces.

Preparing for Marriage

A Preparing for Marriage event is set for 9 a.m.-4 p.m. April 1 at Oveta Culp Hobby Soldier & Family Readiness Center.

The event is by appointment only and will discuss important topics of commitment such as:

• Understanding your partner’s expectations and role

• Learning the impact of personal beliefs

• Considering cultural differences

• Acquiring conflict resolution styles

• Gaining insight about financial decision

• Recognizing the importance of support systems

Also, participants will qualify for the State of Texas 72 hour Exemption and will receive a $60 discount on Texas marriage license.

The event is open to all ID Card holders.
